cellini's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stupid Wedding There is a storm coming and I'm listening to a song of the same name by Richard Hawley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjmnibuGC80&feature=related Today I'm trying really hard to get my Florida trip laid out. I'm waiting to hear back from a guy about hunting igu@nas with him on the Gulf coast. Then I need to find someone around Coral Gables to hunt m0nitor lizards with. It is such a long drive that I'm stopping in Savannah on my way down. I'll do probably 2 days on the the Gulf, then drive to Miami Dade for Monit0rs for 2 days. After that I think I'm heading down to the keys to camp for a few days, go fishing and maybe hunt some more inv@sives. Then I'll start the 2 day drive back home. Probably around a 10 day trip, all told. I'm thinking early October. If I don't get cooperation from people as guides then I am just going to go and do it on my own. I'll take a pellet rifle for iguanas (a proper rifle would be more humane but they have some truly ridiculous laws in FL). _________________________________ Friday I have to go to a fucking wedding out of state this weekend. A cousin of Trish's. Dammit dammit dammit. I was really hoping that we couldn't find a dog sitter. I need to go fishing and watch porn and work on this book of miscell@ny. This was going to be a beautiful weekend with no responsibilities for the first time in months. Fuck. This is turning into a whole Richard Hawley week. I'm about halfway through Plato's 'Timaeus & Critias' and its sort of ho-hum. The book is all right as a sort of early sci-fi. The only reason I'm bothering to finish it is on general principle. I'm also half-way through with 'A Farewell to Arms.' It is written well but Hemingway covered the same damn ground a few too many times, plot-wise. Wounded soldier falls in love with his nurse. Tragedy ensues. Got it. He seems to enjoy describing a drive between one place and another place. 10:10 p.m. - 2010-08-06 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
